Hi Marga,

Good questions.

  1. Choose Sequence > Sequence Settings.
  2. In the dialog box, choose Editing Mode > Custom (scroll to the top of the list there).
  3.  In Video Previews, choose Preview File Format > QuickTime.
  4. In Codec, choose ProRes 422 or ProRes LT for reliable results.
  5. Click the Reset button to make sure your previews are the same size as your sequence.
  6. You should now be able to render successfully.

Bonus tip

  1. You can also use these previews to speed up your exports.
  2. Export using the same codec (ProRes LT or the like) with the "Using Previews" box checked.
  3. You will then have super fast exports, as well.
  4. You can trash all these large QuickTime files after you upload or deliver your show or H.264 copies of the ProRes master.

Let us know if this works for you.

Thanks,
Kevin
