BUG REPORT: Markers disappear

Working in 12.1.1 I've had two instances of all my markers vanishing from timelines (different projects). One of them is a project I've been working on for 7 months and was a very long timeline with a tonne of information in the markers! Please investigate.

This bug has managed to undo a lot of prep work I've done and has me scrambling through Auto-Saves to get it back. It is absolutely destructive.

We had a thread about this over here:
https://forums.adobe.com/message/10380111

Kevin thinks we shouldn't have updated (as if we have a choice when working with outside editors) and that our voices would be better heard over here rather than the Adobe forums. Cheers Kev!

If the answer to software bugs is "you shouldn't have updated" then the reality is there needs to be better software put out. This marker thing is causing my team to lose work. Will this be fixed soon?

I just upgraded to 12.1.1 yesterday, so unlike this poster I didn't lose months of work, just hours, but I use markers all day every day in my professional work. Needless to say this is alarming. PLEASE FIX ASAP. Thank you.

This happened to me just now. The crazy part is, when I open an old autosave, the markers are there. But when I import that sequence from the autosave into my working project, they disappear again. What the heck?

This marker issue is absolutely crushing my work flow. I do documentary style work and like to create timelines of scenes that I shoot with a lot of color-coded, very specific markers. I then load the sequence into the source window and use the keys to jump around to my marks. It's a lot of prep work, but it makes cutting stories more effective and the results are better. Now, when I load the marked sequence into the source, they disappear... for good. The only way to get them back is to quit before I save. But I still can't use them unless I never load in the source and use match frame which is a major hassle, almost defeating the purpose. I should note this used to work. I hope Adobe is on it.

Agreed - in addition to markers disappearing, colors also change - like you might make a marker red, and then it goes back to green. Very frustrating.

This is an ongoing and serious bug. Work just disappears. It seems more unstable when adding markers to a sequence as opposed to a clip. They just suddenly disappear. SAS should not mean constant and ongoing beta testing of buggy software by your paid users.

My producer just spent a few hours marking a timeline and lost it all due to this bug. It's been about two months now... any word on this one?

Yes, I can have them open an auto save, import a sequence, copy the markers and delete the old sequence but... they shouldn't have to do that. It's messy and it makes me look like an idiot for choosing to cut a 5x30 in this mickey mouse program.

I can't believe this. It's over a month since last post and I'm having the exact same issue now. I've transcribed nearly 30 hours of footage using markers, and now they're suddenly all gone. That's over a week of hard work! Can someone tell me how to get them back? Is there a way to retrieve them while waiting for Adobe to finish their coffee and fix this?

I noticed that before it happens on my computers that you can’t see new markers being added to the sequence.

If I close the sequence and reopen it, they work normally again. If I close the project when the bug kicks in, I lose markers entirely.

I had the same problem today. But I discovered the reason why all my markers disappeared from my sequence: I put it in the source viewer and click the "open sequence in timeline" property in the tools. Since then, bam, no m ore markers.
But I could get them back. I opened an older autosave version and copy-paste the same timeline with the markers in the current project.
It's still a big issue though. Adobe should work on it quickly

My markers are all gone from two long interviews,I reiterate what was said in each response to quickly find what I need. All gone, and also the markers all disappeared from the older autosaved versions. This is rough! Version 12.1.1

I just had the same issue happen to me. I marked 3 hours worth of interview footage, and suddenly half of my markers have disappeared. This is a huge time waster, I am very disappointed.

@marie lauren I understand it may be too late, but if you can find a version of your project that still has the markers, the workaround that I've been using for the past year and a half is to open the relevant sequence in your source monitor (not program) and click around between markers, then hit save. I do this religiously for each sequence that has a marker in it that I need, and fingers crossed, I haven't lost any more markers since I first encountered the bug 18 months ago.

I am using PPro ver 14.0 and have entered markers on 31 sequences which took a week. I exported the markers for each sequence to .csv files. When I reopen the project the markers have all disappeared. They aren't visible when I open a sequence in the Source monitor. Looking through the forums, this bug has been reported since 2018 which I find alarming. Can I import the markers to each sequence from the .csv files?

How TF is this still a problem??? Just lost hours of work--markers disappeared, and when I've opened old auto saved versions of my project they are there for a split second and then gone.

I'm having the same problem. My markers for half of a sequence got erased randomly and I have no idea why.

Same problem.
Sequence markers disappear when opening the same project in one machine vs another.

Trying to deduce rhyme or reason why. Clip markers seem unaffected (xmp ok, presumably? thus something wrong with project file?) Will experiment with project locking and media database stuff next.  Extremely frustrating and concerning to not be able to rely on such a fundamental thing in Premiere.
