Can't Download Any Version of Premiere Pro – No Option for Older Versions

New Here ,
Mar 27, 2025 Mar 27, 2025

Hey everyone,

I'm unable to download any version of Adobe Premiere Pro. The latest version isn’t compatible with my Mac, but as a paying subscriber, I expect to have access to the software I’m paying for.

From my research, there should be a dropdown menu in the Creative Cloud app to select older versions, but I don’t have that option. I’m completely stuck without a way to install Premiere Pro.

Here are my system details:

  • macOS Monterey 12.7.6

  • Processor: 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5

  • Memory: 48 GB 1866 MHz DDR3

  • Graphics: AMD FirePro D300 2GB

Has anyone else faced this issue? Any solutions? Adobe support hasn’t responded yet, so I’d really appreciate any help!

The only versions available besides 2025 is 2024 and 23.4.6.

Hi
I have the same problem (macbook pro with High Sierra 10.13). I just chatted with Adobe this morning and they can't provide these links. It's nonsense. I ask to report my problem, I let you know if I have any news.
They also told me to ask the community, maybe someone can help us ?

From all the research I've via the community forum, I can't find a solution for this issue.

there must be a work around that adobe can provide.

Support should not do that. The community cannot help you either.

Hey Ann,

I informed the managers of the assisted support team to instruct our agents to stop doing so. Sorry about that.

Thanks,
Kevin

@jason_0755

This is a 2013 Mac Pro, right?

Unfortunately, support for running Premiere Pro and After Effects on that model Mac has ended.  This includes running the 2025 or 2024 versions, as well as installing any versions prior to those.

If we happen to have an older version of Pr or Ae already installed, it should still launch and run as expected.

I have a 2013 Mac Pro that was really great from CS5 all the way up to CC2019.  I keep it around for opening older projects as that need arises (which has been rare these days).  While I have both a bootable backup and a Time Machine backup of the Macintosh HD, I know that I would not be able to do a clean install if that ever became necessary.

While I know you would very much prefer to use the Mac that you already have, if you switch to a M1 Mac mini 16GB/1TB then you'll get about the same performance as you'd be getting on your older 2013 Mac Pro.

Like Warren Heaton stated. Starting with the 2024 version Adobe now absolutely requires a CPU with AVX2 instruction support just to even install any of the Adobe video programs at all. Your Xeon E5 was released during the Sandy Bridge/Ivy Bridge (2011-2012) era, which precedes the introduction of AVX2 instruction support on Intel CPUs beginning with Haswell in 2013 (Intel's HEDT/workstation CPUs had not yet been updated to include AVX2 support at the time of the 2013 Mac Pro's introduction).

And for Mac only the 2024 and 2025 versions are currently available. One 2023 version is available for Windows only.

How can I get the last version that does NOT require AVX2 support (for an x64 PC, not Mac)?   I do NOT want to upgrade my machine.   It works fine.   Just need a link to whatever version that is.   Thanks to whomever can provide!

@johns2098823

If it were possible, you'd have to go back to version 2022 (give or take); however, when it comes to the subscription apps, Adobe only provides installers for their current apps (2025) and the previous major version (2024).  For more information, see Adobe software support guidelines.

You could likely go further back and run the non-subscription version of CS6.  Assuming your account is still active and you have purchased your app directly from Adobe or registered it, then you should be to download it from your account.  For example, when I log into my Adobe account, I can see the CS6 Master Collection, my serial number, and a download link.  As I understand it, there is no support beyond the registration information and the download link.

I'm not sure how long CS6 this will be available this way.  For example, when I look at CS4 Master Collection or After Effects 7 in my account info, I see the registration information with no download available.  Furthermore, even if I install these versions from the original DVDs, the activation servers for CS4 and older are no longer active.

Yes, same here with MacPro 6.1, Monterey 12.7.6 etc etc. On my newer MacPro at work with Sonoma the older versions are visible ... seems like an OIS issue (?)
