Can't Open OLD Feature Film Project with Latest Premiere Pro

New Here ,
Jun 24, 2021 Jun 24, 2021

Greetings, I'm trying to open an old project, and latest Premiere gets stuck on the loading project screen for hours, I tried waiting and after 8 hours the project was still loading.

I think I need to downgrade my premiere to the 2019 version in order to open this project. Where can I get such an old version of the software.

Any help appreciated.

The newer version of Premiere should be able to open it unless there are some old file formats that are no-longer supported such as some AVI's.

You can visit the Creative Cloud App and see if the previous versions option has the version of Premiere Pro which you are looking for.

I know it should, but its been 8 hours, and still on the loading screen. I think its an issue with big projects. This is a 120 min feature film project. I have no issues opening old small projects, but this one gets stuck on the loading screen. Its happened to other people too.

And the Premiere version this project was made on is no longer available to download in the Creative Cloud App. It's the

Premiere Pro CC 2019 (13.1.4) version.

Did you try IMPORTING the old project into a new project instead of OPENING the old project as Ann asked?

  1. Launch Premiere (DO NOT open any projects)
  2. Open Preferences >Media Cache
  3. Click Remove Media Cache Files (Delete)
  4. You will now see Delete all Media Cache from system as an available option.

Import older project instead of opening.

I need to get the 2019 version of Premiere, not available in the Creative Cloud App.

You need to follow instructions to the letter, otherwise you won't be able to download.

Well, the project was made on a newer version. I dont know exactly which one.

I tried opening the project with the earliest 2020 version, but no luck. Stuck at 75-80% for hours.

Hi -- I'm going through same situation. Did you ever get your project open? If so, how?

Thank you.

@Russell35943916r95q

What version was it created in?

Did you try the steps given by Ann Bens ?

Downloads don't seem to work anymore, at least for me.

@Ann Bens

Some downloads work.  Premiere Pro 2019 is still OK.

Others, like Lightroom 6, are no longer available.
