Can't see selected clip in timeline

Community Beginner ,

Hi all,

Have this weird issue since moving to a MacBook from a PC. When I'm zoomed into the timeline, I can't see which clip I've selected (i.e. the white lines around the clip don't appear).

Never had this issue on PC before. Any ideas of settings I should tweak on my MacBook and/or Premiere Pro?

See attached video.

Thanks,
Simon

Check your System Settings > Displays and make sure your resolution is set to the Default or a recommended setting. Using a non-standard resolution or scaling option can sometimes cause unusual behavior in Premiere Pro’s interface, including display issues in the Timeline panel.

Hi,

Thanks for the recommendation - but my display is already set to Default.

And for some reason, this only happens with long clips. If I cut a clip in 2, then I can actually see the white lines around my clip when I select it, even when I'm zoomed in.

Hey Simon,

Could you share your current display resolution? Please also let us know if you have an external display.

To check if this issue is related to a problematic Workspace, please go to Window > Workspaces and select one of the default Workspaces.

Hi,

I tried various default worspaces, bu the issue is the same (see video).

My display resolution is 1512x982 on a MacBook Pro 14 inch.

Hi, Simon,

This is a bug. Try increasing the track height as a workaround. You can also update the software to v.25.2. It should be fixed. Check it out.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello Kevin,

I can confirm i am on V25.2 but the issue persists. Increasing the track height does not solve the issue (see attached video). As you can also see, the issue does not appear on small clips

Thanks,

Simon

Also, as I scroll toward the end of the timeline, the way the clip is highlighted changes, until I don't see any of the blod white lines around the clip (see attached video).

Any updates on what I can do to solve this? I haven't found any workaround either, except zooming out (which isn't exactly a workaround).

Thank you,
Simon

It's a Mac issue right? I don't see it on my PC.

You're just going to have to do better with this:

  • Adobe Premiere Pro (up-to-date)

Info needed for a bug / tech support

Just glance at the HELP/About... screen, right there at the top.

I just tried what you seem to have done. Tracks minimized (from the Timeline Wrench menu) and then expand the width of the timeline, and I'm able to see the highlighted tracks.

That's in PP 25.2 (updated this week) and Win11-23H2

First give us the exact version, and then with the other info, steps to duplicate your issue.
