Can you delete and relink clip reference clips in premire pro cc 2017 but with everything on the timeline (no clips deleted)? when I import fcp x xml it imports all the reference clips and that is ok, but can I somehow delete it and relink it to already imported footage?
Hope you know what I mean...
tnx

ok - let's say I did an edit in FCP X, exported fcp xml and convert it to xml for the premiere with XtoCC and it works - I have sequence in premiere that is the same as in FCP.... but I imported that xml in premiere project that already have this footage imported and proxy made - can i select this footage that xml import generated and relink it to already imported footage?
If I try to delete this files it also delete those clips in premire sequence - so if there was a way to relink those clips that was imported from xml and relink it to sequence clips that are already there.....
I handle fcp and premiere for client work - sometimes I have to do both, and this is a bit annoyng to relink to proxy all the clips from the sequence... again....
hope you understood...

Seven years later: Has there been a fix?
I need to sync a LOT of clips externally and bring the fcpx back in.
If I do this all the clips are imported twice.. and usually transcribed and analyzed automatically.
And color settings get reset and so on.. the project gets very slow.
Is there ANY way to import a fcpx and relink to existing clips?
Can I maybe import to another project and then just copy the sequence over?

Hi @Peter Reef,
There isn't a good workflow to migrate projects from Final Cut Pro X and Premiere Pro. You would need to use the XtoCC plug-in. Are you using it? If not, check that out here: https://adobe.ly/4hFYle3
If you could provide any other info about your system and workflow, that would be great. I hope we can help you.
Thanks,
Kevin

Thanks @Kevin-Monahan I needed to sync a lot of clips from two different cameras by waveform. As it is not possible in premiere to assign camera labels while syncing via waveform (see other post) premiere stacks up multiple clips from the same camera on top of each other. So I need to do it externally. I tried syncalia, but it has an xml workflow. I can export the whole timeline as xml, sync it there, and bring it back in but then all my clips are duplicated which is a real pain. When analyze media or auto transcription is turned on it will reanalyze all media, it can lead to issues with color management and so on. I think in AVID you could link an imported timeline to existing clips in a bin, as it is built more for professional workflows in large broadcast houses, and i was hoping premiere could do the same. Syncalia notes this as a "known issue" https://syncaila.com/help#nle-interaction But the solution to "consolidate duplicates" does not do anything unfortunately, all clips stay duplicated. I am working on the latest macos version and the latest premiere version - even tried out the beta. hope you can help me.
