I have a 1980x1020, when I import a .srt file it comes in as an 720x480 file.  How can I change this or correct this issue?

I had the same problem and after multiple calls and email with Adobe support I finally got this response:

we would like to inform you that the issue related to .srt file in premier pro seems to be a known issue to us hopefully in our next update we will fix the issue

SOLUTION. (Mine are .srt exported from YouTube)

Right click on the .srt in the media browser/timeline, Go > Modify > Interpret Footage. Click on the 'Captions' tab.

Whack up the 'video settings' MASSIVELY. This was 1920x1080 before.

All done. Nice big captions, and they're crisp. Adjust to suit.
