Change default Workspace.xml location

Explorer ,
Sep 12, 2019 Sep 12, 2019

Hello,

I'm running an up to date Premiere Pro and Creative Cloud on a Windows 10 Machine.

Every now and then, I get a parsing error when I change my Workspace. I see the path to the workspace is on a network path adn not saved locally on teh machine.

Do you now how I can change where the workspace.xml can be saved?

Thanks,

Erik

Typically custom workspaces are saved in User/username/Documents/Adobe/PremierePro/13.0/Profile<username>/Archived Layouts on the PC, and a similar folder tree equivalent on a Mac.

Which is on the system or C: drive. So this is interesting that yours is saved way the heck and gone out there. And I don't know of a way to change that.

Where is the Program/package folder setup for Premiere on your computer? Just out of curiosity.

Neil

I see you got hit by the new forum. You hit "enter" and instead of a new line to type on, it posted. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

Heh, I need to learn this system as well apparently? My installation is on a company computer. Our "local" user accounts were actually saved on a networked server. Maybe this is more of a Windows issue?

Could be. Though you're right, so many networked places use the part of the CC Desktop App for setting file locations to set a common place for user accounts. It should be able to work through that without issue.

Hi,

After further investigation and talking with my IT dept. It looks like I'll need to uninstall and reinstall Adobe products due to changes of where our user accounts are stored. The update may not have transfered to Adobe.

In addition, when I attempt up update my sync setting through Premiere, I get an error.

Will it be enough to uninstall just creative cloud app and reinstall it?

Thanks,

Erik

I performed a complete uninstall of Creative Cloud. Re-installation went find until Encoder started to install. It wanted (insisted) on installing on the networked "User" directory instead of that locally on the computer? I'll keep you posted if this gets resolved. For now, I'll have to use my alternate installation.

So, the conclusion to the workspaces.

My IT guy needed to make some adjustments to the Registry to point to the new Home directory.

There was a bunch of company polocies in place. After those changes, I did a complete uninstall and clean install.

All good now.
