Changing clip color for active sequences

Hi all, I have had this issue for the past couple years but it's just now bugging me enough to post about it. I like to change the color label of my clips to organize shots while they're on the timeline, but sometimes I don't remember to do this until I already have a rough cut or something. I'll then go change the clip labels, but they don't change on the timeline. If I drag a new clip onto the timeline, even if it's the same clip as one I already have on the timeline, the new clip will be the new color, but all existing clips remain the same color. I am currently going through my whole timeline and deleting each clip off of it indivudually, then dragging the exact same section of the clip back onto the timeline so that it will have the right color. There must be a better way... thanks for any and all help!
