Colors of clips affecting each other in strange ways.

Hi. As a beginner, I am baffled and frustrated with a strange color problem.

I added a video clip to the timeline. Then I added the stock photo of 7 people sitting on the floor. The original photo is crisp and clear, while Premiere Pro displays the photo as dull and faded (as seen in the attachment).

Conversely, I tried adding the stock photo to the timeline first and then adding the vide clip later. The opposite happens. The photo becomes clear and crisp, while the video has a terrible contrast problem.

What is happening? Why are they affectign each other? How do I get around this?
