QUICK SUMMARY: How do I auto-convert Premerie save files to the latest version of Premiere automatically (keeping its original name) and skip this box? [screenshot attached]
Hello!
I'm constantly going back into older files and updating them for clients. Every month, I revisit 10-20 saved files to update or gab assets for a new video. I work with many different clients with hundruds of different files going back many years. So when Premiere updates, and I'm required to go through this dialog box EVERY time I open an old file... and its tedious. I'm not here to complain about the function. I think it's a wise feature for many.
I hope that someone would be able to help me figure out how to overwrite the old files automatically, keeping the same name. So, if I have one file in my folder, it would overwrite that one file with the same name. I have ZERO need for backward compatibility, use ZERO 3rd party plugins, and ALWAYs use the latest updated Premiere. So auto-converting would have ZERO negative feedback for me.
I've tried searching for this, but all I get are results around the opposite: people dealing with "saved with newer version" issues.
Note: The screenshot shows me deleting the "_1" that Premiere ads. I would like to keep the original file name.
Thank you in advance!!

Well, I just tried it out your way and it does seem to just overwrite the original (when you delete the 2 characters PP adds to the original file name). Sorry I don't know a way to bypass that, and it doesn't seem bothersome to me either. It's just one click to accept it.

If you want to make updating your projects easier, try saving them in a Production.
When you open a project from a Production after a major update, Premiere Pro will prompt you to update the Production. Once you do, all the projects in that Production will automatically update to the latest version.
Productions are also great for sharing assets and keeping everything organized. They make accessing and managing older projects much simpler.
You can learn more about how Productions work here: Using the Production Panel in Premiere Pro.

be careful what you wish for. This workflow is in place to protect you from yourself... or at least many users who click thru with abandon... Doesn't seem like a big deal to me, bwdik....
