Copy and Paste IN/OUT range between clips (information / timecode only - not actual clip)

Good afternoon,

I've looked around for a solution for this but couldn't find anything - probably because my problem is quite specific.

In the project I'm working on there was a problem with the audio sync on a clip and it was edited into the sequence WITHOUT the audio from the external microphones. Now, I'm looking to simply put in that audio underneath the camera audio. I've synced up the full audio to the full-length clip and want to simply grab the pieces that I need and put them in my timeline. The way I've been doing this is to load up the clip that's already in the timeline into the SOURCE monitor - go to the out point - copy the TIMECODE - go to the full length clip and paste the TIMECODE - then set my OUT point. I do the same for the IN point. Then I grab that clip and simply place it underneath the camera reference audio. I'm wondering - is there a way to simply copy and paste the IN/OUT range (without necessarily the clip - just the timecodes) between clips? Say if I load the clip in the source and just want to grab the timecode of the IN/OUT points and put it in another clip (which is the same clip).

Any help? I hope it's clear - please let me know if I can clarify further.

Thank you

A.

I have no clue what you're talking about. Maybe try a subclip from in out points... then drag into timeline ( audio or video)

good luck

Hahaha. I know.. it sounds really convoluted and - well - it is. I guess - in an attempt to try and simplify more - I want to copy and paste the selected range information (i.e. if my IN is at 00:05:00 and OUT is at 00:10:00) then I want to take the range and select that same range but on a separate clip. I appreciate your answer nonetheless -  I'll look into creating a subclip...

Thanks for your reply - wanted to cross-check and see if perhaps there's a feature I may have missed.

Cheers

It is possible, if I understand you. Select with in and out (i and o) in your timeline. Be sure that all tracks are active with data you're looking to copy and paste (highlighted on the left, audio and/or video), then (at least with a Mac) select the ";" key on your keyboard. This will delete in/out selected data, then go to where you want to paste it and paste (command/v). Then immediately go back to the in point, drag your timeline indictaor to the former in point, and paste again to replace the data (assuming you just wanted to lift/copy/paste the data from the i/o selection). Hope this helps.
