Copy and Paste issue

New Here ,
Apr 04, 2024 Apr 04, 2024

Hi folks, I'm trying to copy and paste clips into my timeline on a separate track.  The problem is, that whenever I paste it pushes all my other clips back, or breaks up the clips that are under it including audio. I have to go to the very end, past, then drag back to where I need it. Is there any way for me just to past on a separate track and not effect anything else in my timeliness.

Thx

Lock the tracks you don't want to paste to.

It's not that it's pasting to multiple tracks, it's just cutting into.any track above or below it, and the pushing everything else in my timeline back whatever the length of the clip is.  And it's really annoying to lock like seven tracks each time I need to past something

Ahh, I see what you mean. Here's a reference document that may be helpful.

To lock multiple tracks, press Shift + lock, it will lock all tracks, then unlock your target track.

Looks like you are using a paste insert instead of paste, check the edit menu and have a look at the keyboard shortcuts for paste and paste insert:
