Count Down Timer

Hello,

I am trying to create a countdown timer in my video. I have the time code where I want it in my video but it starts at the time where it is in the sequence but I want the timer to start at 2 minutes and count down to 0. I been searching all over on youtube etc to find how to change it to start at a number that i want and then count down.

Any ideas?

Go to File > New > Transparent Video and generate a new Transparent Video Clip.

Place the Transparent Video clip on the timeline on a track above the video you wish to add the countdown timer, for the duration of that clip.

Add the Timecode Effect, and with that Transparent Video clip selected on the timeline,  in the Effect Controls Pane configure the Timecode display as to how you want it to look.

Once you have it set, right click on the Transparent Video clip in the timeline and choose Nest from the drop down menu.

Once you have created the Nest (the clip on the timeline will have turned green) right click again, this time on the Nest,  and from the drop down menu choose Speed/Duration. Set it to run in reverse.

Now the timecode should be counting down.

Depending on the horsepower of your computer, you may need to render the effect to see it run smoothly.

Thank you for your answer. So I did that and it adds 4 seconds to it

So i ahve the transparent video, added the timecode, moved it where i wanted it i changed the TimeCode to generate so that i could have the starting timecode to start at 2 minutes. I then do that and it add 4 seconds to it.

Make sure you are using Generated timecode in the correct frame rate and you want to be sure it is Non-Drop timecode, if you intend to use it as a clock.

So for the drop code i have it set as 24 because my frames on the camera were 23.97 Can i use any other that hs non-drop? There is no non-drop for 24.

There is 30 non-drop can that one be used?

24 frame rate is always Non-Drop timecode - there is no Drop frame code at 24fp

Ok so i did all of that just for some reason it adds 4 seconds to the 2 minutes

If i go to the speed duration and change the 4 seconds to 0 the clip goes red

Sorry i had to actually make the transparent layer longer to where i needed it so now it adds 3 minutes to the 2 minutes now.

I got it working yesterday. I had to mess with the time on the layer so when it added the minutes it equaled to 2 minutes. Then it work i just had to mess around with it for a long time. Thank you for your time everyone!
