Good Day Everyone! Hope this gets to the right location. I have had premiere pro for some time and REALLY need help setting up these proxy files...
In previous edits I had gotten it to work but the media was all movie/widescreen footage. Now, However I am editing some video that was taken by my Iphone 11 and I went to create a proxy for it but then when I did it and rendered it. It completely squished the file. So then I had a very narrow unappealing video. I had to close not save and thankfully when I re-opened it, it went back to normal.
I have also went back to some recent youtube videos I watched to get the idea but since the update The whole landscaped has changed and I feel like I am relearning the program. Which is frustrating and time consuming.
How can I create an Ingest proxy and have it save for what I need to do ? I really need some guidance any help is appreciated. Thanks and talk soon!

It sounds like you're just having aspect ratio problems. Like for instance HD video = 1920x1080
When you create your proxies, be sure to have the same aspect ratio. Divide both number by the same amount. Like if you wanted half size proxies (divide by 2) it would be
960x540. (x2)
640x360 (x3)
Take your clip size and divide the two numbers by the same amount.
For UHD 3840x2160
1280x720 (x3)

I thought the same. Check this out. I just know found this video for creating vertical proxies. Did all the same exact steps and still get the squished vertical proxy. ? What the hell ? lol

I just posted the screen shot above in the reply... you can see on the right hand side of the screen how the proxy that is showing is squished. What else do you want me to show ? Thanks

@MyerPjSo I went ahead and expiremented with what you said about changing the size. When I divided by 2 it just got more pixelated and further squished. I went ahead and tried multiplying It went way to big see attached photo.

@Ann Bens well, I am so confused. I was able to pull an export and ingest proxy from that video I shared previously in the thread. I attached it to my file and the size did work. But NOW it is worse scrubbing through then the orginal file. Why does adobe makes this so complicated ?!?!

Just to add! This same squishy problem happens also when I render the video. I have to undo the render to get the file back to normal size ! I'm on the hunt !! Any Ideas ?

I think I got it for rendering. Check this out. I changed the setting for Video Preview format to quicktime which automatically selected prosres 422 HQ. Rendered the file and BAM no effect made.
Now how can I implement this into Ingested Proxies. Cheers all.

Ok So it looks like it has become less work to add proxies into Adobe now. However I always run into so many issues when I do this. Now when I have the proxy ON. it is worse then when the proxy is off ?! What the heck is going with that ?!
