Creative cloud video editing apps very slow opening after macOS Monterey upgrade on Mac Pro 2019

Hi,

We are using v23 Creative cloud apps on good spec Macpro 2019. After upgrading to Monterey, Pemiere Pro, After Effects and Media Encoder all take about 5-10 times longer to launch than with the previous OS. With Big Sur each app took a few seconds to launch, now see the icons bounce for 20" to 30". PS, Ai, Dw seem unaffected. I have deleted cache and see no oher preferences that could be causing this.

Thanks for any tips,

I too have just updated. Premier Pro is lagging big time. It's almost impossible to work with my videos. I'm on an iMac 2017 model with 16GB of memory. I just updated to Ventura 13.0.1. The only reason I updated is becasue I wanted to use a Premier Pro MOGRT file I got from Envato Elements. I spent hours updaitng my computer and my Adobe apps and now my system is crawling.

Now I only have a 1TB hard drive. I've used 557GB. I know in Photoshop I can allocate my external hard drive as a resource for extra cache... but Premier's cache settings are already using 11GB out of 16 GB of RAM... so I'm not sure what to do to make this better. I try not to have many other apps opne when I'm working in Premier Pro. This looks like it may be a Monterey issue. But I will say Adobe... those of us who are professionals, we count on these apps and we pay good money for them. When you make it purposefully so that assets created in newer versions aren't backwards compatible, foricng people to upgrade, you are affecting people's livelihood. It's not a great experience. If I didn't have 20 years with Adobe products and there were good alternatives, I'd leave you in a heartbeat. What ever happen to useer experience? I've had it with Mac too. My next machine will be a PC. Can't beleive that's even coming out of my mouth.

Hi Jenn,

Sorry about that. You can try deleting the media cache to solve this kind of issue. Make sure all projects are closed, File > Close All Projects. After, go to Preferences > Media cache and choose to delete ALL media cache, the second option in the dialog box. Restart Premiere Pro. Open the project and allow a little time for creating a new cache. Then, see if you are still having trouble.

Thanks,
Kevin

I’ll try one more time as had no meaningful response for nearly a year. Media Encoder and a few other apps like Ps and Ai previously opened almost instantly on my workstation but after a CC upgrade about 2 years ago Me takes about half a minute to start up on this 16 core 384GB Ram, Radeon PRO W6800X Mac Pro 2019. I often use Me more than 30 times a day so keep it open now. Autodesk Flame, normally considered a much more spec hungry app, starts up twice as quickly. Did Adobe re-work it's apps a couple of years ago to incorporate Apple silicon resulting in intel workstations suffered as a result? I lose time I do not have. I look forward to upgrading to a silicon Mac Pro of course but not in our plans for a couple of years. Any tips would be much appreciated.

Greetings! Were you ever able to get a resolution to this issue? I too have a 2019 Macbook Pro Running Ventura and all Adobe video editing apps are painfully slow to launch. I don't see any problems once they're up, but what used to take just a few seconds now takes the better part of a minute with Premeire, AE, and Media Encoder. Very odd that this is the only string I've found for the problem, and I don't really see a solution. Any info you could provide would be deeply appreciated! Thanks!

Have you updated Premiere Pro, @Robert Chelpka? If so, if you have done that, have you tried a new project? Let us know more info about your computer, your media, and your workflow. I hope we can help you.
