I've been using Premier Pro for as long as I can remember (back to CS3) but only as a home user. ie. Family holiday videos, ski videos etc. I cannot justify a subscription option, and therefore I stopped upgrading as of CS6. I still use CS6 but its getting more and more furstrating having to convert iphone video and (of course) downsize the quality to continue.
Can anyone recommend an alternative editor that is low cost, client based, that will give me base professional features such as transitions, ability to add and mix soundtracks separate to video etc etc for WINDOWS.
OR
Any recommendations for what settings/codec's I can use for iPhone video imports into CS6 ?
I'd love to continue with CS6 suite, (I use Encore for Blu-ray creation) but it seems there's no modern formats supported for final outputs.
CS6 does not understand the HEVC codec hence the converting.
Or film in 1920x1080 H.264.
What kind of modern formats do you want. CS6 can export to UDH.
da Vinci Resolve has a free and paid version and is quite good.

It's more about importinf MOV files from an iPhone, than export but being able to do both would be great. Ie. Output in a recent format. I've lost track ... is MPEG-4 part2 the most recent ?
ie. Export to a High Definition Mp4 etc.

Download the trial of Premiere Elements and see if that suits your needs.

The trial does not support the H.265 codec.

Is it supported in the full version?
If so, one could purchase (directly from Adobe only), see if it is OK, and then get a refund within 30 days if it is not suitable.

If I load Elements, will that mess my client versions of CS6 ? I've been caught before by Adobe FORCING me to their online products, or subscription models, which I do not want to use. I have a license for Windows Client CS6 and want to continue using.

No, Premiere Elements and Premiere Pro are independent of each other.

Did you try what Ann said on the 27th?
"film in 1920x1080 H.264"
That does require you to go into your iphone menu to change the recording options

Thanks all for the feedback.
I will explore Elements as an option. Hopefully it will have enough features. I was not using all the features of PPro, but I did make a lot of use of several that may not be in Elements. I will hae time next week to explore and find out.
Feedback much appreciated.
