I'm using Premiere Pro CS5

Every time I make a new sequence I get a few other undesired empty tracks.

Is there a way to change this? A setting? Default setting?

If you go to New Sequence, next to the Presets and General tab you will find the Tracks tab.

There you can set the amount of tracks you want or dont want.

That makes a custom Sequence Presets right? So if I'm pulling the video to get those settings, then the camera is recording in surround sound mode right?

You need to experiment with the options.

CS5 is a long time ago.

Looks like you camera is set to stereo.

Is there a way to change the default # of tracks when I select a clip and choose, "New Sequence from Clip"?

This is precisely what I came to this thread to find out. I've got a bin full of clips and want to string them together in a timeline that matches the format of the clips. If the clips have one stereo track, why does "New Sequence from Clip" give me 3 video tracks and 3 audio tracks? I want the timeline to match the clips. Every. Time. What I don't want to do, is figure out what codec, framerate, size, number of audio tracks all of my source clips are, then create a new sequence, hunt for a preset or create a custom one, then drag all the clips to the timeline. Is there a preference where the user can change this behavior?

You will have to create a custom sequence with amount and type of tracks you want to use.

There is a tab in the New Sequence window called Tracks.

After setting everything up, save the preset.
