When I open a video file in Adobe Premiere Pro and play it in the Source Monitor, the timecode doesn’t match what I see in PotPlayer (or any regular media player).
For example, at 1:06:09 in Premiere’s Source panel, a certain frame or scene is visible — but if I go to the same timestamp (1:06:09) in PotPlayer, the video shows an earlier part of the scene (a few seconds behind).
So Premiere’s source monitor seems slightly ahead of the actual video playback compared to other players.
Why is there a mismatch between Premiere’s source timecode and the real playback time in PotPlayer, and how can I make Premiere show the same timing as the original file?
i just right click on the footage in proejcet files window, then i click modify and choose time code, then i change time display format to 29.97 fps drop-frame timecode (my footage was also 29.97 frame) and source monitor now show like pot player. thanks.

Please use the free MediaInfo and post a screenshot of the properties of your media in tree view:

Many users are having issues with VFR. If the file is variable frame rate, use Handbrake to convert to constant frame rate before importing into Premiere Pro:

Shutter Encoder may also be used to convert to Constant Frame Rate:
