Since one of the newer versions Premiere Pro no longer uses the entire size of the screen for the dropdown menus. Instead you have to navigate in the dropdown menu via the little arrows step by step in a super annoying way. I think the entire design of the dropdown menus should be rethought. Here are some suggestions on what is bad about the dropdown menus or what could be improved.
1. I use a 3840x2160 monitor which is huge. Still, only a minimal area is used for the dropdown menus. I'm not sure if this is a bug or an intentional design choice. Either way, the dropdown menus in newer versions of Premiere Pro have become suuuper annoying.
Obviously, dropdown menus need to be limited to a certain size on a small screen, but if you have enough screen real estate, it should definitely be used and the dropdown menu should not be limited to an unnecessarily small area.
2. The way the user has to navigate to the lower cut off points, which are not visible at the first click, is ultra annoying and unnecessarily time consuming. For every click on the small black triangle, the menu moves by exactly one point, which means that you constantly have to click on the menu like crazy.
Instead it would be much better if you could see all the items that were not visible upon the first click by only clicking on once. In addition, it would be cool if you could scroll in the menu and for each scroll in the popup menu gets one point more to face.3. As a last alternative, I would suggest that just like in After Effects, you could group several items into categories that you can unfold in bulk, which would shorten the menu.
3. In addition it might be cool if you could scroll in the menu and for each scroll in the popup menu one more point is revealed.
4. As a last alternative, I would suggest that just like in After Effects, you could group several items into head categories that you can unfold in bulk, which would shorten the menu. However, I would prefer the first suggestion to all others.
These suggestions are relevant to the dropdown/popup menus that appear when you click on the File, Edit, Clip, Sequence, etc tabs as well as right-clicking on clips in the timeline.
