Dynamic Link not working properly

This started out of the blue today - AE comps are not relinking in Premiere unless AE project is open at the same time and it's impossible to send sequences to Audition for audio mix (getting the "Preparing Sequence Data" message followed by Premiere unresponsive which leads to a force quit).  Have seen my fair share of Dynamic Link bugs but all usually get fixed with a restart or a reinstall.  Nothing is working today.  Appreciate any help/leads.

The adobe stuff is updated, but the problem seems to have been solved after downloading the latest OS "pro video format" patch for Big Sur.
