Over a dozen attempts to burn DVDs in Encore 5.5 and failing, often with Sense Code 52102 indicating that the problem was with my hardware and finding the hardware burned DVDs in another application, I found a solution that is working every time, thanks in part to various bit of advice in this forum: I create in Encore 5.5, importing Premiere Pro sequences as timelines and Photoshop for Menus -- and then instead of burning DVD, I build an image file (maybe also called an ISO). I then use a free program AShampoo Burning Studio to burn the DVD from the image (being cautious I slow down to 4x rate, but I'm not sure that's necessary). And voila! Burning happily away.

The Windows program I use for burning is Imgburn... Read http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1322583 for notes on installing Imgburn WITHOUT any toolbar add-ons... Set Imgburn to use the slowest burn speed your drive and media will use... I set my burn speed to 1x and let Imgburn adjust to the actual minimum

Thanks for the info! I tried this, but am so new to the iso thing that every setting i have tried nly transfers the data or noting. What do I need to set it to do burn this from an .iso file to a playable dvd as if encore exported it?
Thanks! I am at my witt's end wasting all these DVD's

What program are those options from?
Did you create the .iso in Encore?

Those were from Ashampoo as someone suggested on here. The .iso was created in Encore, yes. I fiddled around and got the proper settings to get the iso to a playable DVD, but some of my menu buttons cannot be chosen. Wish there were a way to get Encore to work. Never had a problem before. Two seperate burmers used and Encore gives me the "Sense code 52102, please contat harware manufacturer...." message Of course the dvd could have no chapter menus, but what fun is that?

Actually, I ended up using imgburn to make the dvd, not the Ashampoo one. Forgot to mention that because at my age I forget everything.

Seems like a nice program. Just wondering why some chapter links did not work. Not sure if that ha[[ened in the .iso save from encore or in the DVD from .iso in imgburn. But at least I can get it to DVD.

It is unlikely to be ImgBurn. Either Encore, or some issue in playback/DVD player.

You are probably right. Just sucks that it all works in the encore file on the computer but then the dvd has errors.

Make sure you use a good brand of disk such as Verbatim.

I will try those. I have used many brands. Currently Magnavox. (I am very cheap.)

Seems I had a fe errors in my menus, Did not realize when you preview in Encore, the buttons at the bottom mimic a remote. Noticed those were doing the same thing as the DVD plyaer remote (not selecting some chaoters even though they were set to link. They just would not get selected, I edited in Photoshop with the edit in photoshop option, and now the menus seem to work as always. Will see if a new export to DVD works. I just renamed the files as "new chapter menu 1" etc, and re-imported. Also just got a Dell formare update, so maybe that will solve the burning from Encore issue. If not, the .iso thing worked. Will just have to re do that again.
