If you take a look at the following video, I am trying to make the coffee cup animation stop in the middle of the screen instead of continuing to roll up and off the screen. Is there a way to add a freeze frame of this or make it stop at a certain point? I want the steamy heart animation to still play through. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Do you have access to the original coffee cup template?

Is that coffee cup in a Motion Graphics Template (mogrt), or is it a video file or is it an imported AE comp?

If it's a video file you could just:

1 - Cut the vide at the point you wanted to make the freeze frame

2 - Drag the second half of the clip to the right to open up some space.

3 - Duplicate the clip and then use the Frame Hold command (right–click > Add Frame Hold) on the duplicate. You would now have a freeze frame that can fill the gap betweeen your two clips.

The problem is that would also stp the steam movement since it is a single video playing back.

If it is a Mogrt file you may have direct access to the keyframes of it was made in Premiere Pro, but if it was made in AE you'll probably have to edit the template source file in AE.

If it is an imported AE file, you can edit in in AE.

Of course both of those options assume you know After Effects.

The problem with any freeze frames is that the steam animation will also stop.

Hi there!

I watched your video, and it looks like you're creating a captivating animation! To freeze the coffee cup animation at a certain point while allowing the steamy heart animation to play through, you can follow these steps depending on the video editing software you're using:

Option 1: Using Keyframes (Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, etc.)

  1. Identify the Frame:

    • Scrub through your timeline and identify the frame where you want the coffee cup animation to freeze.
  2. Set a Keyframe for Position:

    • Set a keyframe for the position of the coffee cup at that specific frame. This will be the frame where the cup stops moving.
  3. Hold the Position Keyframe:

    • Copy the position keyframe and paste it to create a 'hold' effect. This ensures that the coffee cup stays in the same position for a certain duration.
  4. Continue with Steamy Heart Animation:

    • Let the steamy heart animation continue playing as normal.

Option 2: Using Editing Software Features

  1. Split the Clip:

    • Split the coffee cup animation clip at the desired frame where you want it to freeze.
  2. Apply Freeze Frame:

    • Apply a freeze frame effect to the coffee cup clip. Many video editing software tools have a "freeze frame" or "hold on frame" option.
  3. Overlay Steamy Heart Animation:

    • Place the steamy heart animation over the frozen coffee cup clip on a higher layer. Ensure it continues playing seamlessly.

Option 3: Advanced Techniques

  • Depending on your software, you might also explore advanced techniques such as masking or dynamic linking to achieve a more customized effect.

Remember to check your specific software's documentation for detailed instructions based on the features it provides.

I hope this helps! If you have any specific software in mind or more details about your project, feel free to share, and I can provide more targeted guidance. Good luck with your animation!
