Export file 40Gb. ended up with 800 Mb file unusable file

Hi there 
I have a problem trying to export a mashup of videos that is 4 hours long
When I got to the export I had a file of 40Gb approx 
I went to sleep and then I found myself with an 800 Mb file that has like 6 minutes 
When I open the movie the timeline has 4 hours but after some minutes I can't see anything and as I said the file size is very small
Can someone pls help me understand why?
The rendering process didn't have any errors during this time
