M2 Pro mac mini.

Using iphone and gopro footage.

I had to shelve a series I'd been working on because I simply couldn't get PR2023 to work.  Litterally, had to shelve the project, let the YouTube algorithim lose faith in my channel.  See my previous posts.

Eventually PR 2024 comes out and finally, I instal and start working.  It's working.  I finished and exported the project.  I watched it on my system and it kept freezing.  I guessed it was the Mac playback with QT.  There were glitches.  Hmmm... not sure what they are lets just be safe and export again.

Eventiually I get a file that I skip through and voila it looks to have exported OK.  It's beyond late.  I've been up all night,  I hit upload, to YT.  I do my thumbnails, tags, everything.  Sleep!

I was up 6 hours later to check it and see the algorithim still recognises it.  I've had 600 views.  Averging a 100 views an hour.  I then see comments saying the audio is out of synch.  I check the upload and cannot believe what I'm seeing.  A glitch in the edit and sure enough the whole final third of the project is out of synch.  This is 1999 type errors that Premiere should be way way decades beyond.  I have no choice but to sabotage my channel and delete the upload because I can't and shouldn't have to leave a damaged project online forever.  I've spent thoughds of my money on this.  I've spent hundreds of hours editing.  I've bought new systems.  I've waited for software updates.  THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING!

I spend a day meticulously checking every single frame of the exports.  Eventually, hours later I get a clean export.  I re-upload it... and wouldn't ya know the algorithim doesn't promote it.  I go from 100 views an hour to about 3 views an hour.  The cost Premiere has had on my project, my time, my bank balance and my wellbeing - about 2 years work/investment - is immesurable.  My 2014 iMac with an older Premiere pro might have been slow but it didn't have these problems.

Fast forward... Here I am today... 3 episodes later.  About a week of editing each episode and EVERY SINGLE ONE there have been issues with the export.

I'm typing this while exporting.

Don't tell me to roll back to 2023 - because that might have exported OK but was uneditable because of other issues with RAM taking forever to load, seconds to do a simle trim and it's well documented throughout these posts here.

WHEN WHEN WHEN is Adobe going to do something about this?

WHEN WHEN WHEN can we edit with iPhone and GoPro footage without having to transcode to a format which defeats the whole object of mixed media NLE and would take impossible ammounts of hard drive space?

WHEN WHEN WHEN will Adobe even acknowledge this in a fair way?

WHEN WHEN WHEN will it be acceoptable to import footage from two of the most popular cameras in the world and perform not particularly challenging edits in the grand scheme of things?  iPhone and GoPro.  This isn't some weird camera.  This is an iPhone 13 and GoPro 10.  Premiere NEED'S TO WORK WITH THESE BASIC FORMATS.

And here I am again... export after export when I play it back it freezes, it glitches, it goes out of synch.  It's absolutely shocikng!

It's not me.

It's not my system.

It's not my footage.

IT'S THE SOFTWARE!!!!!!

Now I'm deleting all the cache, yet again, 7am..  I finished the edit (20 minute piece) at 11pm.  8 hours, exporting and exporting and exporting.

Please don't came back at me with devs need to be able to recreate to trouble shoot it.  SURE!!!  Send me a drive and I'llpost the lot to you while you refund the investments I've made into this project.

I ABSOLUTEY HATE THIS!!!!!

I've been editing 25+ years.  This is entirely ENTIRELY not acceptable.

NO MEANS NO!!!

STOP MEANS STOP!!!

Adobe...

FIX IT!  ACKNOWLEDGE US!!!  I see other edit on YT with the same glitches.  We shgould not be here and you know it!

(iPhone) footage with variable frame rate can cause out of sync issues.

I do not have a solution for you but other than convert footage to an edit friendly codec.

Hello screenname_abc,

There's more information on variable frame rate footage here.

"Most videos created using mobile devices (such as iOS and Android), and e-learning applications (such as ScreenFlow, or Twitch) are of VFR format."

It includes a section on the toggle for "Smooth Video Motion" and "Preserve Audio Sync", as well as a section on "Limitations with Variable Frame Rate support".

Though the page instructs you to "transcode VFR material to a constant frame rate before editing", there's no follow up instruction on the page on how to do this. (Documentation Inadequate @Kevin-Monahan )

You could also create a request for better support from Adobe for VFR footage, and direct a request to Apple for support for constant frame rate footage in their iPhones. (no idea if that is already an optional feature).
