Export problem with DJI files

Explorer ,
Sep 26, 2024 Sep 26, 2024

Hello,

I'm facing a problem I've never had before. Some DJI drone 4k files play perfectly on the timeline while I'm editing, but when rendered they freeze as if it were a streaming with internet problems. I've tried all kinds of formats and resolutions, I've tried removing all the effects, rendering the raw file in a sequence of the same resolution, nothing works.

My system:
macOS Sonoma 14.5
Premiere Pro 24.6.1 (build 2)
i9 intel / 32gb RAM

Please, I appreciate any help.

Hi fernando.andreh

Sorry for the frustrations you are facing with these drone files. We would like to take this opportunity to work with you and improve the performance when cutting with Dji drone footage. You should'nt have to do extra steps to work with the footage you want to use in your creative project.

I have sent you an email ,  if you have time can send over some of these files in your cut that are giving you grief? We will attempt to repo the problems you are having . We would love to w

Can you clarify what you mean by "rendering"? Are you referring to Sequence > Render In to Out, Clip > Render and Replace, or File > Export > Media? If you're exporting media, are you using Premiere or Media Encoder?

Also, where is your DJI footage stored?

Hello,
I was referring to File > Export > Media in order to generate the final file. I use Premiere's native rendering for this.
The footages are located on the same external SSD as the entire project. The interesting thing is that no problems occur during editing, only in the final result of the rendering (in any format).

Try moving your project file to a local drive and see if that helps.

Also, what type of connection are you using for the SSD?

No luck. As it seems, the only way out is to convert from DJI's .mp4 to prores or something. Any other try always end with a freezing video of that footages.
The connection is the USB-C of the macbook pro.

The drone might be very common, but the footage is very highly compressed and known to give issues when editing.

Hi fernando.andreh

Just checking back in to see if you have had time to read any of the emails I sent you? I took your DJI .mp4 files and have shared them with the team. We have'nt been able to reproduce the error you were getting and it would really help to test out what was going on with them if we could get a project file and no extra media or like jamieclarke

said a screen recording of the issue you were having. We are happy to help and we are here when you need any questions answered.

Thank you

Ian

Hi @Quentin0D4C - If you are rendering your footage can you make sure under sequence settings that your video previews is set to Quicktime > apple ProRes.

I shot timelapse with DJI Action cameras (3 and 4). I'm working with it in Premiere Pro, have created proxy files, but it is very sluggish and hard to work with compared to files captured with my DJI Mavic 3 Pro.

Any ideas on how to modify settings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
