Exports are desaturated (Color corrections are not applied in exports)

Version:

23.5.0 (Build 56)

OS:

Mac OSX - Ventura 13.2.1

Color:

I started with basic color corrections in one adjustment layer in V2 (No LUT)

- When that was exporting with what appeared to be no corrections, I played around with various settings. I exported (H.264) with the following variations:

- Rec. 709/Main/High/High10, Rec. 2020/Main/High -- No.

- Then I tried exporting ProRes format with Quicktime (422, then also 422 HQ) -- Still, no.

- Then I tried H.265 -- No, again.

- Last attempt: Removed adjustment layer corrections (V2), then applied color corrections directly (to V1 clip) -- Nope.

* It took 8 "failed" (uncorrected) exports before I decided there's a possibility that it's not user error.

Footage:

Sony a7IV, 2160x3840, XAVC S 4K, 200mbps, 4:2:2, 10bit, 59.94fps

Timeline:

I've been using Premiere Pro for several years. I'm no expert, but I've exported hundreds of videos. This is a new issue since the latest "update." I put that in quotations because I'm not sure if it was an update. What I do know is, I strangely had to re-download Premiere via Creative Cloud yesterday because the version I had refused to open. I was surprised to find the "Install" button next to Premiere in CC, because I always have it downloaded and I didn't uninstall it.

Am I missing something here, or is this a bug?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

If you are working with a Rec.709 sequence and using ANY export with either the HLG or PQ in the preset name, or turning on the HLG/PQ stuff yourself, you will not get a predictable export.

The clip color management needs to match the sequence color management which needs to match the export settings.

Thank you for the feedback. Would you be able to provide any recommendations for alternatives?

 - If my intention was to export 4K, 10bit, 4:2:2 with maximum quality, how would I proceed? Quicktime - Uncompressed YUV 10bit 4:2:2?

So if I'm understanding you correctly, does this mean exporting via H.265 isn't an option?

Thank you again.

It's the color space, not the format/codec.

ProRes, DNx, H.264 ... doesn't matter, really. It's matching color space from clips through sequence through export.
