GPU Not Being Used by Premiere

For the life of me, I dont know why my GPU has never gone past 4% even with huge render projects. And I cant render export large GB projects.

The GPU is never used as simply an assistant to the CPU. The coding has to get completely different. So some things are coded for GPU if available, many aren't.

There is a list of the GPU Accelerated Effects that are run through the GPU. And some long-GOP rendering is also done *in certain cases* on specifically equipped GPUs.

So what's your media, effects in use, and CPU and GPU?

I have 80,000 jpg low rez trying to render to edit a timelapse. No effects or transitions.

i7 7th gen.

Just noticed I was using game driver. Now switching to studio driver.

Switched to sytudio driver. GPU  still 1% utilized. CPU 100%, MEMORY 90-100%. chose mercury playback cuda.

What are you expecting the GPU to do? I don't see in your response anything that would actually use the GPU as it's been specified to be used. Again, it is not just a general assistant for the CPU. It is a separate processing system.

Which exact driver version number are you using? You see, the 57x.xx driver versions have begun to depreciate CUDA support for all older Nvidia GPUs prior to the Turing architecture which came out in 2018. That means that both of the 570-series and newer Studio (and all of the Game Ready drivers in the 570- and newer series) drivers now have broken CUDA support for all GeForce 900 and 10 series GPUs. Nvidia has begun to phase out support for all of the GPUs older than the GeForce 20 and GeForce 16 series GPUS by relegating them to legacy support status. And the next point version of Premiere Pro may begin to warn you that "your GPU will no longer be supported in an upcoming release. Please update to a newer GPU."

Hi Rob!

What format are you exporting your timelapse in? Depending on the format, it's likely your GPU would be used for encoding the video during the export process.
