Have to click the align tool multiple times to get it centered

I have found for the past couple of months, I need to click the align tool about 10 or 15 times for my text to actually become centred instead of just clicking it once. Not sure if anyone else is having this issue?

This behavior typically indicates that the Vector Motion of the graphic clip has been adjusted. To resolve this:

1. Go to the Effect Controls panel.
2. Locate the Vector Motion settings.
3. Reset the adjustments by clicking the Reset button (circular arrow icon) next to Position or any other modified parameters.
4. Try using the Align and Transform tools again to center the graphic.
