Have to render every time I add an effect to my timeline

Hey all!

I have been having this issue for about a week now. Everytime I make an edit to my timeline (whether its trimming a clip, adding an effect, or even moving a clip) I have to render before I am able to see the effect take place. I think it might have to do with my GPU. I'm gonna be real, Im not too knowledgeable about that kind of stuff. Was wondering if this happened to anyone else and what your fix was? Thanks in advance!

 

Here's what Im working with

MacOS Monterey 

Pricessor 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5

Memory 64 GB 1866 MHz DDR3

Startup disk Macintosh HD

Graphics AMD FirePro D300 2 GB

Delete the Media Cache and Media Cache files:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the preferences:

You need to upgrade your gpu, 2 gig is too little.

Guessing the render bar is red instead of yellow?

Your graphics card is too weak for real time playback, hence the rendering on the timeline

Only for some effects will it go red (VR effects) but if its just trimming or other effects it will be yellow. But regardless if red or yellow I HAVE to render to see the effect work. I guess Im just confused why it started happening out of the blue when just a few weeks ago playback was perfectly fine 😞

Also when I first put a clip on the timeline it immeditally goes yellow

I was just using the VR as an example. Its not just the VR. Every effect causes me to have to re render. Not just VR.

For my computer the startup disk is a Macintosh HD, with 251GB total and 52 GB Avaliable, 

I also have an SSD 2TB (WD Elements), with 627GB avaliable. On each are mostly just premiere files and final cuts of work, mostly in m4p format. Do you think I just have to much on each drive for premire to run smoothly? I really do appreciate you and thank you for your help, I did try all of your step below this morning and I have yet to find any luck. 😞
