How can I speed down this clip without affecting the next one?

Right click on the clip and select Speed/Duration, set value of Speed lower then 100% (50% means twice as slow). The next clip will not be affected, but you will see just part of the slowed clip. You can use Slip Tool to determine the part of the clip to be visible in this segment of timeline.

If you use Clip speed, make sure to check Ripple edit (shift trailing clips).
