In the example video and another hundred videos like it, I created the multi layer text file in Photoshop, then imported it. I animated the scrolling to land on the correct lyrics as required. No problems with Premiere behaving normally.
Now I'm moving on to Medleys, which have five times the amount of text per file. Here is the first medley lyrics without any text formatting:

The PSD image is under 30,000 pixels tall but it gives Premiere epilepsy. So I tried using the awful, awful text function inside Premiere to achieve the same thing. In both cases, pressing the play button takes 3 seconds before it begins, the timecode jumps 38 frames at a time, the project window animation jumps like crazy and the whole thing glitches out.
In the past I have attempted to get around Premiere's shortcomings by stitching together existing tracks but its super messy and I know someone in this community knows the correct way to do this, if it can be done at all. It is impossible to animate when Premiere is going nuts. Please help.
