How to Change Borders of Cropped Clip?

I cropped a screen recording I made so it only shows the part I want. Thing is for some reason it keeps the original margins/borders. Screenshot for reference: https://postimg.cc/JGYpGBzG

Why does it do this? Most importantly, any way to adjust it?

The Crop effect will make the edges of a clip transparent, but it won't adjust the frame size of the original clip.

If you want to trim the edges of your clip's frame, I recommend adding the clip to a new sequence, adjusting the Frame Size of the sequence in Sequence > Sequence Settings, and then nesting this sequence in your main sequence.

Not a fan of how it doesn't just do it right away with Crop, but this did it, bit odd but hey.

How do I know what frame size to set it too after I have cropped it? The video still appears as 1080 1920 so I don't know what the cropped frame size is.

Hi Gemma,

To find the frame size for your sequence, you can first measure the area you want to crop. Here's how:

1. Choose Graphics & Titles > New Layer > Rectangle.
2. Drag the edges of the rectangle to cover the area of your clip you want to crop.
3. Check the width and height of your rectangle in the Essential Graphics panel.
4. Use this width and height for your sequence frame size.
