New Here ,
Sep 24, 2025 Sep 24, 2025

Until Premiere 23.6, there was a capture function for importing videos from external devices. It's currently unavailable. Do you know if version 23.6 can be downloaded?

You could try downloaded CC 2024 as CC 2025 only goes back to version 24.0

You may download the current and ONE older version... so I don't thinkk 23.6 is available

I have NOT used either, but many say to try these for SD capture http://windv.mourek.cz/ or http://www.exsate.com/products/dvcapture/
What I used with some old VHS tapes is http://www.scenalyzer.com/ and it works well, do change the default Fat32 to NTFS setting to not have lots of 4gig files
-I have NOT used the scene detect function in scenalyzer, so don't know how well it works

-Legacy driver http://www.studio1productions.com/Articles/Firewire-1.htm
--ALL versions of Windows from 7 through 10 (and 11 ?) need the legacy driver!
I have NOT used it, but many say to try this for HDV capture

-Click the 1st link under "Download sites:" for the latest version

Capture was removed in version 24.0 of Premiere Pro.

Some users report that to regain capture functionality you must continue using version 23.6 (or a 23.x build) side-by-side with higher versions.

Adobe’s policy now allows the installation of older versions via the Creative Cloud desktop app (via “Other Versions”) for some previous major versions.

However, Adobe seems to restrict this: versions older than the “latest and previous major version” may no longer be made available.

Within Adobe’s community discussion, someone asked for direct download links to version 23.6 and was told “it is no longer available for download.”

Also, in the Adobe Support security bulletin, version 23.6.9 and earlier (which includes many 23.6.x builds) is listed as vulnerable.

Adobe’s official “Install previous versions” page states that older major versions can be installed from the “Other Versions” menu, but that only applies to versions that Adobe still makes available.

It’s unlikely that you can officially download any arbitrary build of 23.6 now, especially if Adobe has removed it from the "Other Versions" list.

If you already have a local installer or had 23.6 installed at some point, you might still use it (if compatible with your OS).

Even if you succeed in getting 23.6, keep in mind that older builds (including many 23.6 versions) have known security vulnerabiliti

es.

Nope 23.6 and earlier is no longer available.

Downloading 2024 or 2025 is of no use to you as it does not contain DV/HDV capture.

Still some software around for capture on windows:

WinDV

ScenalyzerLive

HDVSplit 0.77 beta

Haha Bob beat me too it.!
