You probably don't have enough dedicated VRAM.

Hi there,

We're sorry to hear about this. Could you please confirm the version of Premiere Pro that you are using & the CPU & GPU on your system? Also, have you tried updating the GPU drivers to see if it's fixing the preview?

Thanks,

Sumeet

I am using 2025 premier pro. My CPU is AMD Ryzen 5 7530U with Ryzen 5 graphics. My GPU is AMD Radeon TM graphics. My GPU drivers are up to date as well

Did you update via Windows or by going direct to AMD?

I did it through AMD software, and I checked through task manager for driver any updates. All my drivers are up to date

Try rolling back the graphics driver if it worked OK previously.

Program sequence 1: it displays black horizontal lines but once I press play it removes  the black lines. When the program is playing it displays a grainy screen instead of the horizontal black lines

Thanks for the details. Please let us know the version of the AMD GPU driver you are currently using. Also, if you are working with mp4 files, try disabling hardware accelerated decoding (under Edit > Preferences > Media) for testing purposes & check if it restores the preview.

Thanks,

Sumeet

Disabling hardware-accelerated decoding and then restarting my laptop did not solve the issue. MY GPU is AMD Radeon (Tm) graphics said on Task Manager. If there isn't a labeled graphic that I've mentioned, the graphics coprocessor is likely the AMD Radeon RX Vega 8, according to Best Buy.

Thanks for checking hardware accelerated decoding. Please follow the steps mentioned in this article to verify the exact make and model of your GPU. Did it start after updating the app or any specific driver? Also, have you applied any third-party effects or plugins to the clips in the timeline?

Thank you for the link. My GPU is AMD Radeon (TM). I have not installed or tweaked anything in Adobe Premiere. I have imported an edited video from another software, but I believe that is not the issue, as I still see black horizontal lines through Adobe's sample videos.  My issue began the moment I installed it. I opened Adobe Premiere on a school's PC and it works fine. It has to be something with my laptop, but not sure what it is.
