How to view clip while dragging in timeline

I'm using Premiere Pro 14.

I'm new to using the program, so this migh be super simple.

Is it possible to view the clip while dragging it in the timeline?

I can drag the play-head and it will show the clip accordingly.

But if I have the play-head in a fixed position and drag the clip, I would like to view the clip as I drag it in the timeline. Is that possible? If yes - how do I make it happen?

Not while dragging, just let go of the mouse.

I can see that the preview updates as I release the mouse.

But suppose I have a separate audio and video clip.

I listen to the audio and finds a spot where i pause the play-head.

Now I want to find the position in the video clip that matches the point where the play-head is.

If I can preview the clip while I drag it, I can position the clip correctly.

Now I have to guess and let go of the mouse. If' it's no correct I have to drag again and make a new guess and release the mouse. And so it continues until it finally match up.

It would be much better if I could have a preview of what's going on under the play-head as I drag the clip.

But - if I get your reply correctly - that's not possible ??

You can use markers to mark the spot.

Might want to work the other way around. Set audio to the video.

Video can be moved only one frame.

Audio on the other hand 1/48000 of a second.

That will be easiere than what I'm doing. So great reply.

Still I'm surprised that dragging the video clip will not update the program window.

I'm going to give your reply a like, but I'll keep the question open to see if new inputs come in.

What I do is get it as close as possible and then I hold down Command Key (I'm on a Mac) and use my left and right arrow keys to move the clip left or right one frame at a time. This updates the Program window. If you hold down the Shift key as well you move many frames at a time. Try it out and see if that helps you.

That's a very usable approach.

I'm going to use that if there is no way to have the program window update when dragging the video clip.

Would be nice to have.

I'm almost sure that was an option in Davinci Resolve, but not having it in Premiere Pro makes me wonder if I remember it wrong.

Looks like it's not an option in Premiere Pro.
