I have edited captions for a clip in the timeline. How do I apply those text updates to the clip?

So I think I may need to find a resource for how to work in the text panel, because this is my first time and stumbling my way through probably is not the best way to figure things out! But I digress.

So anyway, here we go. Basically I've got this clip in the timeline that now has captions over it, thanks to the subtitles track. I'm so new to the Text panel that I was kind just stumbling around when I did this, and might not have done it properly, considering that I wanted the captions to be attached to the clip in the project panel, not just its instance in this particular sequence. So i made a transcription in the text panel, created captions from that, saw that a subtitles track appeared on the timeline, and spent a lot of time refining those captions from within the timeline, by expanding/contraction the "clips" on the subtitle track to change when they appear, and double clicking them and editing the text.

I need to make sure that these captions now follow this source clip itself, so that if, for example, delete parts of this clip from the timeline, or add the source clip to a new timeline, the captions track will follow, and stay synced in both places if I were to ever make further changes to the captions.

I can explain further if needed, but for now I will try to leave it there. I definitely need a primer on the text panel in general, that's for sure.

It's the same as if you have clips on multiple tracks and you want to keep them in sync: use ripple edits and deletes.

To use that clip easily in other sequences, nest the clip and the captions, then use the nested sequence.

I do not want to nest the clip, as I plan to further cut it up on this timeline. I want the captions track to be inside the source clip itself. My post clearly asked that.
