I have Premire Pro 25.2.3 and the audio distort after edits

I create a new project, and after a few edits, the audio starts playing chopily and distorted.

The project is composed of one mp4 audio track and 1 png image. While adding text to the frames and replaying to sync the text with the audio the audio starts play chopily and distorted. There is no constant to refer to on the cause as it is random regarding the number of edits I make.

The mp4 files I have this issue with have been 4 to 5 minutes long and the images are 11 to 12 mb png files created by Adobe Photoshop.

This happens on all the projects I have made and I have to restart Premiere to clear the error.

Check the Audio Hardware Preferences. Default Audio Input should be set to No Input.

Issue: Audio loses sync. Symptoms: choppy and distorted while playing in editor.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Add one mp4 music file
  2. Add one 11 to 12 megabyte image
  3. Add music file to timeline
  4. Add image file to timeline duplicated the image for duration of the mp4 file (did this by accident)
  5. Add text to images
  6. Play short sequences of the file from the program window to sync the text with the music.
  7. After several edits the audio goes out of sync and becomes choppy/distorted.
