Improper playback in Premiere with Windows 11

Last month I upgraded my system from Windows 10 to Windows 11. When I try to play from either preview or the timeline, the playback is broken up; the sound breaks up, the motion is juddery, like looking at something that has incompatable field settings, or converting from interlace to progressive. This only occurs in Premier playback, rendered files from Premiere are fine and show no artifacts. This makes accurate editing in Premiere impossible. Does anybody know how to fix this?
