Summary: When dragging one or multiple bins from the project panel into an already existing sequence or creating a new sequence, clips appear in a random order instead of alphabetically.
Detailed Description: Creating a daily timeline with all footage from a given shooting day / camera lined up for review / further processing. This was achieved by dragging a bin with multiple clips into an existing timeline from the project panel, where list view is selected and sorting is set to 'Name (Ascending)' in the header. Clips were expected to appear on the timeline in alphabetical order (or alternatively in accordance with sorting criteria set in the project panel). In actuality, clips appear in a random order htat does not accor with any sorting settings exposed to the user in the given configuration.* The behavior does NOT occur when opening the bin and selecting all clips using any method.
*In fact, clips also do not appear in the order that is generated when opening the bin in question in the 'Icon View' mode, where user order is selected via the 'Sort Icons' button. Changing this setting to 'Name' for the bin in question also does not change the behavior when draggin the bin.
Why is this a problem?: The errand behavior creates major overhead for projects with large numbers of bins because each bin has to be opened indivdually and clips selected to achieve the desired result. Also, because hte sorting choice is not telegraphed properly by the interface in the configuration described, it is likely the user will not notice the error immediately, which can create problems later in the pipeline.
Additional Information: See screenshots below for clarification of the procedure/issue and attempted workarounds.
1) Errand clip order when dragging a bin to the timeline.
2) Clip order on timeline does not correspond with bin, even in 'Icon View' and 'User Order' mode.
3) Problem persists, even when changing icon sorting mode.

Go to list view and sort on name then select clips from top to bottom, grab 1st clip and drag to timeline.

This is not a solution to the problem. The problem is inconsistent behavior when using the method of dragging the entire bin onto the timeline, which is specifically the desired way to do things because it enables massive time savings on larger projects. Based on my post, either the feature of dragging clips onto the timeline using the bin icon is implemented incosistently or I am experiencing a bug.

If you want to drag the bin you need to make sure the clips are set in Name sort order.
Looking at your screenshot they are not.

This is not a solution to the problem. As I have pointed out, the clip order appears random regardless of the sort order settings. The behavior persists even if the sort order is set to 'Name (Ascending)' in the header bar (screenshot 1) and/or to 'Name' in the sort icon menu (screenshot 3). Screenshot 2 shows that the order the clips appear in does not correspond with the 'User Order' setting either, when dragging the bin icon.

The order of clips in the timeline is determined by the way the clips have been selected in the project window

This is not a solution to the problem. I am dragging the bin icon without selecting the individual clips. How can I make this any more clear?

I know but the clips need to be sorted.

If you look at screenshots 1 and 2, you can see that the sorting mode is correct. Have you even tried recreating the issue?

Hi @malten97351532 - @Ann Bens is correct you need to select the clips in the order you want them to appear or sort them.
Can you provide a screen recording?

I was trying to but couldn't figure it out when I posted originally. Here you go!

The behavior is confusing but actually within the app consistent. For what you want, you need to follow the specific instructions, and it doesn't look like you did from your snaps.
Selecting List view, then setting by Name, select all, grab the top clip, and I get in-order sequences every time.

Thank you Neil. I am aware that this is a workaround for the issue described above. Hence why I filed this as a possible bug report and not a question.
What I am trying to figure out is: What logic does the application follow when dragging the bin instead of the clips. My contention is that, if the order of clips when dragging the bin does not follow from any parameters exposed to the user, then it is either badly implented (because it defies the reasonable user expectation that the behavior of the software consistently corresponds to the parameters exposed to them when accomplishign the same task via different methods provided by the software) or it is not supposed to work that way, in which case it is a bug.
So from what you are telling me, am I right to assume that I cannot influence the order of clips appearing on the timeline when draggind the bin icon, correct?
