So im working on a video where at the end, a cellphone footage is place. Premiere is automatically upscalling the footage where it detects blackspace?
I tried setting to frame, scale to frame,
I tried putting it into a new sequence with the footage scaled up and blured in the back. But premiere still detects the black space within that footage if its within frame.
My guess that I could place Artificial Black images and maybe premiere will not scale the footage, but whats the correct way to stop premiere from scaling this footage?

Turn off max render (and max depth), use Previews and Optical flow.

So I did some experimenting with the size and managed to get the cell phone footage to my liking.
So what happened?
Im not entirely sure but im convinced that premiere wasnt Auto doing anything. However the preview i was using during the editing process wasnt competely accurate.
So what i did was made changes to the cell phone footage, exporting a final (using mark in and out) , and kept doing that till i got the footage to my liking.

You willl have to uncheck Optical flow as it is only usefull when exproting to a different framerate.
