Looks like you don't have your color management setup correctly in Premiere.

Color workspace, Lumetri panel, Settings tab ... the tab NAMED Settings ...

Make sure that Display Color Management and Extended Dynamic range are on.

Auto detect log and auto tonemapping also. This means your media, if say iPhone HLG, can be used properly on either HLG/HDR or Rec.709/SDR sequences.

Set the sequence color space to that which you will export in. And use ONLY export presets that match your sequence CM. Re

Rec.709 sequences, DO NOT use any preset with HLG or PQ in the preset name. Similarly, for an HLG sequence, you MUST use an export preset with HLG in the preset name.

That will take care of most issues.

But it can't fix Apple's mess of using the Rec.709 camera transform as the display transform. Which means the QuickTime Player, Chrome and Safari browsers all show a way too light 'version' of the Rec.709 image.

VLC player and Firefox browser normally use the correct gamma 2.4 even on Macs.

Another demonstration of why this is an Apple caused problem ... Macs with Reference modes, set to HDTV, use the proper Rec.709 gamma 2.4 display transform. Right.

So you can set the Viewer gamma in Premiere to taste now.

Gamma 1.96/QuickTime ... your image within Premiere and outside in QuickTime player on Macs without Reference modes will be similar. ALL OTHER SCREENS will show it too dark and probably over-saturated.

Gamma 2.2/Web is used by some as an "in between" ... the image will be a bit lighter on Macs, and not quite as dark on non-Macs.

Gamma 2.4/broadcast is the actually correct setting, and it is the one used by the vast majority of colorists for all professional work for broadcast/streaming. NOTHING is ever graded for b-cast/streaming at other than gamma 2.4, so much of the professional media you watch on that system was graded to 2.4 ... and you're not seeing what the colorist saw.

But then, colorists also learn that no one ever, on any screen, will see exactly what you saw when grading. No matter how delivered, b-cast, streaming, or theatrical release.
