My iMac keeps restarting when using Premiere.

2020 iMac, i9, 128GB RAM

This is really frustrating, have tried troubleshooting everything and it continues to crash.

Thanks!

Hi Matt,

Sorry about that. What are you doing as you are using Premiere Pro? Are you working with 4K or larger footage? Are you adding any scaling to the clips relative to the size of the sequence indicated in Sequence Settings? Are you adding GPU accelerated effects? Let us know more information so we can help.

Thanks!
Kevin

I'm working with 4K footage at the moment. Not scaling or do anything out
of the ordinary at the moment. No GPU accelerated effects.

This has been an ongoing problem. I work with Arri RAW and R3D files, as
well as MXF and Sony footage. I also have third party RAM installed, so not
sure if that has anything to do with it.

Thanks

Hey Matt,

Sorry about that. Something ringing a bell here, but not quite sure. I need to do a little digging. Do you have any Set to Frame Size or Scale to Frame Size functions applied to any of the clips? Is the sequence size 4K or UHD? Let me know, Matt.

Thanks,
Kevin

I'm editing in a 1080p sequence, and have 4K clips scaled to frame size.

Thanks

Hi Matt,

Can you duplicate the sequence and try a test using "set to frame size" instead? I'll continue to test on my side.

Thanks,
Kevin
