Mask Opacity not working right

Community Beginner ,
Jan 05, 2024 Jan 05, 2024

I have this issue in Premier and in After Effects, didn't had it last project, it appeared lately.
The mask is not "disappearing" but instead it affects the layers transparency.
Any idea why this is happening?

Details: After Effects v 24.1 (but happens with old versions now as well)
OS: Windows 10

Thanks for your answer, however I expected the mask to fade away instead of the rest of the picture.
I have this issue in After Effects as well. I try to create a hole into the clip and zoom through it, this worked before in other projects.

Normal behavior.

The mask is inverted.

You can test this by putting a clip underneath.

If you invert a mask in Pr. the outside becomes the mask not the black rectangular in the center which is the background.

If you lower the opacity, the frame will turn entirely black.

Use Alpha Adjust for masking instead of masking opacity.

I basically want to let the hole appear at some point with adding opacity key frames.
