Media files not sorting correctly

Engaged ,

I have searched for this issue before and haven't found a legit CORRECT answer.  So I thought I'd ask again.

Today we went on a 7-mile hike in the Bighorn Mountains (in Wyoming).  When we got home I asked everyone to air-drop their photos and videos to me.  I then uploaded all of them to my PC.  After adding all the files, I right-click on titles in the media section, and I click on Metadata display.  Once the pop-up menu appears, I click on BASIC and put a check mark next to CREATION DATE.  Then I move this new column all the way to the left in front of the file name.  I click on CREATION DATE assuming they will sort either ascending or descending when I click on it.  This would make creating a video to edit in real-time SO MUCH EASIER.  But nooooo, the files do not sort correctly.

As you can see the files were sorted great up until 12:11:59 pm and then the ones from 10 am came in after them.  This makes creating an edit following the timing of the hike so much more of a headache.  I almost have to create markers in the sequence based on the hour and try to sort them manually.  So frustrating.

Adobe any reason why this does not sort correctly?  This would make creating content like this so much easier.

PS Here's all the information that will not help you answer my simple question:
* Version: 23.5.0

* OS:  Windows 10

* Basic Steps:  Add new files from Windows Explorer

* Expected results:  That the files would actually sort according to this date and time stamp

I don't know, but here are some thoughts:

  • What happens when you sort in Windows File Explorer?

  • Also, if everyone used AirDrop, then everyone was on an Apple device. Have you ruled out AirDrop as a cause? Were any files sent a different way?

  • Have you checked the date/times on the devices that are not working?
