Usually Handbrake comes to the rescue for transcoding exotic file formats. Please give that a try: https://handbrake.fr/

Don't think Handbrake will preserve the transparancy.

Hi Pavol G,
Do you have the latest version of Premiere Pro installed? I think this format should be supported, as it is a JPEG 2000 variant. More info.
Thanks,
Kevin

Pavol,
Hello there. 🙂
Do you have any previous versions of Premiere Pro currently installed? Have you tried any of those? Which OS are you working with?
Cheers,
Kevin

I am seeing the same on many varieties of *.mov files. Has anyone got a solution?

.mov is only an extension, not necessarily a reference to the codec that was used to build the file. It usually is the result of Apple's QuickTime, but it can be anything. Someone may even have renamed a file from .mts to .mov.
My suggestion: go back to the source and try to find out how this file was created. Where did it come from? A camera? A screen recorder? Also, try to use MediaInfo to find out more details.
PremierePro is one of the most advanced NLEs that will accept a plethora of file formats, but not everything...
Hope this helps.

Premiere support quite a few formats but not this flavour.

I'm Brazilian, and I don't understand English, but I hope to help.
I had the same problem this week, it was very difficult to find a software that could format the video keeping the alpha. What worked for me was to upload the video in Blender, because it was able to read the file, then I rendered it again in .png and so I was able to import it into Premiere.
