Moving Video from V1 to V2 not synced with audio

New Here ,
Dec 28, 2023 Dec 28, 2023

So when I move a video from V1 to V2, the audio stays in A1 and I have to move it separately. It was synced at first, that is, if I moved the video from V1 to V2, the audio would automatically move from A1 to A2. Suddenly it stopped, and now I have to move them both manually. Just to be clear, the video and audio ARE LINKED. If I drag the video right or left, the audio follows. What I am talking about is moving them up and down. No matter which track I moved the video to, audio would move to the respective track. Now it does not. I'm sure it's something simple I am overlooking. Thank you!!

If you move the video from V1 go V2 the audio does not move down. Been that way for many years.

If you move the video sideways then the audio will follow.

In my experience, before it is placed on the sequence, and "released", the audio track mirrors the video track.

But once "released", it will not change vertical, only horizontal as you noted. And this is by design, as many audio folk and editors use tracks or even groups of tracks for specific things. Like dialog A1 & A2, room sounds A3, Foley/effects A4 through A6, music A7.

So they do not want audio from camera clips jumping tracks.

Some users would dearly love to have that ability and there are Ideas posted on this forum asking for that. Search and upvote.

If you move the video sideways then the audio will follow.

Select video and move it up but dont let go of the mouse

now hold down ctrl+shift and drag the audio down.
