Hi Alex,
We're sorry about the poor experience. On which camera were these MTS files captured & is this happening specifically with MTS files, or is it happening with other media types as well? Also, have you tried clearing the cache & checked if it's working properly?
Thanks,
Sumeet

Hi Sumeet,
Thanks for your reply and recommendations.
1: Yes, all cache has been cleared.
2: Default Input in the Audio Hardware in the Preferences is set to No Input (Ann Bens recomendation)
3: For the moment, this problem seems to be only happening with this camera make and model becasue I'm not working with ant other cameras ot MTS for now:
SONY PXW-X70 XDC AM CAMCORDER
I've replied to you and to Ann Bens (above) and further issue has appeared.
I've seen this beofre as well, but didn't want to add too many problems to my initial post...
Any thoughts and comments would be deeply appreciated.
Best, Alex
Please check updated video and send me your thoughts and observations.

Was the audio recorded as AVCHD: Dolby Digital 2ch, 16-bit, 48 kHz? If so, you'll have to transcode that to linear PCM outside of Premier Pro. Dolby audio is not supported.
If you continue to use this camcorder, use any of the other audio formats that is records:

Of course, Dolby is supported. Its part of windows.

It's native operating system support, not Premiere Pro support as of... when was it? 2018?
So, if there's an issue with Dolby Digital 2ch, 16-bit, 48 kHz, it's OS side and not Premiere Pro side.

Hi Warren, I'll have to check on this at first opportunity.

Are you importing the MTS files directly or are you using the Media Browser tab? With MTS, you should use the Media Browser.

Hi Warren
Thanks for time and attention I appreciate.
If you check the screen recordings I uploaded, I think you'll see I always import via Media Browser 🙂

Media Broswer is the way to bring in MTS; however, as a test, what happens if you use File > Import and drill down the directory structure to the MTS files?
If you view the clip audio in the Source tab, how many channels do you see and do any waveforms show there?
If you transcode a clip to QuickTime Apple ProRes 422 LT using Media Encoder, does that allow the audio to be seen/heard as expected?
Do you have any other software that can convert MTS?

Hi Warren,
Thanks for reply and continued attention.
I have lots of ways to transcode the files and I also have a current cheeky workaround eg: by importing all the clips into Premiere and checking all of them to see which one(s) have visual audio frequencies + are audible and using those.
The main reason for my post was to alert Premiere Pro developers of this bug and to see if this was prevalent amongst the community for attention and a permanant fix.
Or, if this issues was only something on my end only.
Best, Alex.

Hi Ann,
Apologies for late reply, I've been on location shooting for a feature.
Would you be willing to try one of the MTS files I have on file for a test on your side?
I would need to send the whole cam folder structure.
Please let me know?
Best, Alex

Hi Ann,
Thanks for this...and I would owe you one, so let me know what I can do for you in the fututre to make up for it 🙂
I don't want to share the footage in the public domain, could I private message you somewhere / somehow?
Please let me know?
Best, Ales

Long shot: have you got Windows Feature Experience Pack installed.
These are spanned clips? That might be an issue?
Sony has its own import/edit software.
Maybe you should try that before bringing it into Premiere.
Try direct import instead of the Media Browser.

Would this be an issue??

MTS files show audio but NO Sound heard
By @AXFX
If you playback the file/s in let´s say VLC or any other player, do you hear any sound there? It´s easy with the X70 to by mistake record video with the audio shut off and the result is this, you see video but hear no audio since it was never recored.
Can you upload a short sample clip so i can test? (Either here or via PM)
