MTS files used to work fine, but now when I import them, the sound is just loud static (like in this video). There is audio, but it’s just noise. If I convert the file to MP4, the sound works normally. Is there a way to fix this so I don’t have to keep converting files?
Hi there,
The audio noise issue with MTS media has been fixed in the latest release of Premiere Pro (v25.4). I am not able to reproduce the waveform issue in v25.4. Would you mind testing v25.4 to see if it's working properly? In case you are still experiencing it, please share a sample media with which you are getting the waveform issue. We will get it checked at our end.
Thanks,
Sumeet

Me too. I am on 25.3. This is a major speed bump for us -- we at Science Café Pictures have a screening in October we're getting ready for.
Shame on Adobe for not having better Software QA in your release train -- seriously, you guys are a large size enterprise company. It is unbelievable that you do not have QA testers testing your releases and updates before they go to production. It is very dissappointing to encounter the hurdles involved in rolling back.

Hi Dr. Brian Hart,
We're sorry about the poor experience. We're aware of the audio noise issue with MTS media in v25.3 & are actively working on a solution. For the time being, we recommend using Premiere Pro v25.2 as a workaround. We will keep you updated as the issue is resolved.
Thanks for your patience.

Hi everyone,
This issue has been addressed in the most recent beta release of Pr, and soon it will be included in an upcoming release version. If you wish to access the fix now, the beta version can be installed via Creative Cloud app. It installs alongside your current version. As a temporary solution, you may also use the beta version of Media Encoder to transcode the affected MTS media into ProRes, which can then be used in the current release version for your projects. You may refer to this link to learn more about Creative Cloud Beta program.
Thanks,
Sumeet

Hi Sumeet,
Using the Beta it appears the audio now imports correctly (as in it's not loud white noise) but the waveforms aren't generating, it's just a wall as if it were the static.
Footage is from a Canon C100mkII, computer is a 4090, 285K, 128GB RAM

Current update seems to have fixed both the satatic and waveform issues, however I am noticing the program in general acting a bit sluggish in comparison.

Thanks for confirming the fix. We can get the performance issue checked. Is it happening while doing anything specific, like playback or export, or is the UI slow to respond?
