Multicam making separate track for each clip

When making a multicam sequence, Premiere makes every clip into a separate track. Then I have to manually drag each camera onto its own track. How do I stop this?

For example, in the attached picture even though it's obvious the clips are from the same camera, premiere still puts them on different tracks of the multicam sequence

I'm astonished I've not seen this problem discussed anywhere else!
